I never realized that my tongue could give me a peak into what is happening inside my digestive tract.
Some characteristics that tell you about your tongue include:
- Width
- Length
- Color (pale vs pink vs other non pink colors)
- Inflammation
- Red dots
- Cracks and their placement
- Coating (including its thickness and location)
- Shaking or quivering
- Teeth marks
- Scalloped edges
- and more
Our tongues tell a story. By looking at our tongue we can see signs of our constitution. We can also see signs of imbalance.
It’s not possible to see with our eyes what is happening in our gut (although we get many warning signs and symptoms regularly).
Lucky for us that we can get some insight just by looking at our tongue.
